Job summary

Arena Racing Company in the United Kingdom is seeking a Grounds Person to maintain the all-weather racing surface and surrounding grounds, ensuring high presentation standards across race days and events.

You will work as part of a team with some solo responsibilities and must be practical, reliable and adaptable to busy racecourse schedules. A full clean driving licence is required to operate grounds machinery and transport equipment.

Qualifications

• Excellent time management, communication and punctuality.
• Works effectively under tight time constraints and within a busy racing calendar.
• Enjoy outdoor working in all weather conditions.
• Full clean driving licence.
• Experience in grounds, maintenance or agriculture would be advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Clerk of the Course, assist with planned maintenance and preparation of the all-weather racing surface and surrounding areas.
• Assist with the preparation, maintenance and reinstatement of the racing surface before, during and after racing, using tractors, machinery and specialist all-weather maintenance equipment (once training completed).
• Maintain lawns, gardens, landscaped areas and parade rings to a high standard, with attention to presentation on race days and during events.
• Maintain external areas across the racecourse, including car parks, access routes, tracks, tarmac areas and other hardstanding surfaces.
• Carry out routine maintenance and assist with the upkeep of grounds equipment, machinery, buildings and other estate facilities as required.
• Support the operational delivery of race days and events, including preparation of the grounds and facilities before, during and after events.
• Work in accordance with all relevant health and safety legislation, risk assessments, safe working practices and the Company's Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• Be prepared to work flexible and unsociable hours as required by the racecourse operation, including evenings, weekends, Bank Holidays and race days.
