Job summary

Bioquell, a brand of Ecolab, based at Andover, Hampshire, UK, is expanding its multidisciplinary R&D team. The role focuses on new product development, test planning, and production support within a dedicated prototype workshop and test facilities.

You will run mechanical and process tests, generate reports, and help drive DFMEA and root-cause investigations for customer issues, contributing to a broad range of pharmaceutical and healthcare applications.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship or similar in an engineering discipline (ideally mechanical).
• Hands-on experience in product approval testing is essential.
• Experience designing and building test rigs is important.
• Appreciation of instrumenting equipment for testing.
• Ability to analyse test results is important.
• Design of experiments and writing test plans and reporting results essential.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must.
• Knowledge of the C family of programming languages, Siemens S7-1200 PLC logic and Arduino advantageous but not essential.

Job description

Bioquell, a brand of Ecolab, based at Andover Hampshire UK, designing and manufacturing products based on the Hydrogen Peroxide vapour technology which is used for the decontamination in the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical sectors. The products and consumables are all manufactured on the same site as the R&D facility and then are exported globally.

The role is based at Andover where there are well equipped prototype workshop and test rooms, and they will be working within a 13 strong multidisciplinary R&D team. The team currently consists of controls engineers, microbiologists, a chemist, mechanical design engineers, an analysis engineer, one test and development engineer with this role adding a second.

What You’ll Do

• You will predominantly be working on new product development along with the development of existing products.
• Generate product approval test plans.
• Perform product mechanical and process testing.
• Create test reports.
• Provide regular management information updates and reports.
• Provide feedback to guide the DFMEA.
• Investigate customer issues

New Product Development

Developing of new products to both widen and re-new the product range. There is a comprehensive New Product Introduction process allowing for collaboration with all stake holders in the new products. A large variety of materials are used in the design using a number of different manufacturing processes, some of which are in house, and others are sub-contracted. Updating and changing existing products due to obsolescence, production issues, site issue and developing requirements. Developing of additional customer specific requirements and features, allowing a deeper understanding of the Pharmaceutical industry.

Production Support

Provide a mechanical workshop skills resource to Production as a solution to quality and process problems that may arise during build of product.

Customer Support

Helping to identify and get to the root cause of customer issues and product quality problems.

The R&D facility is well equipped with a workshop including 3D printers, existing products, test rooms including environmental chamber to allow designs to be prototyped and tested.
