Walsall Council is looking for a Revenues & Benefits Assistant to support Council Tax and Business Rates administration and recovery. You will ensure the delivery of efficient billing, collection and responsive customer service, while following legislation, policies and GDPR.
This role requires experience with Council Tax accounts, strong numeracy and IT skills, and the ability to handle difficult conversations. A BPSS check is required; closing date is 22 September 2026.

We currently have an exciting opportunity available within the Council Tax team, as a Revenues and Benefits Assistant.
You will ensure the delivery of efficient and effective local taxation administration and collection and support the delivery of an effective Revenue collection service covering Council Tax and Business Rates.
This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
For this role the successful candidates must undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. BPSS is the minimum standard to ensure the identity and integrity of an employee who has access to official information using secure networks linking central government and local authorities. A BPSS check involves four main elements; Identity Check, National and Immigration Status, Employment History (last 3 years) and Verification of Criminal Record (unspent convictions only).
