Job summary

QinetiQ in Malvern is seeking a Quantum Engineer to develop and apply cutting-edge quantum technologies, solving complex engineering challenges and delivering innovative capabilities across multiple domains.

You will perform quantum engineering and systems engineering activities from concept through implementation, applying expertise in quantum sensing, navigation or computing while working in multidisciplinary teams to analyse problems, develop solutions and produce technical documentation that

Qualifications

• Experience in quantum engineering with a focus on quantum sensing, quantum navigation or quantum computing.
• Strong understanding of physics, linear algebra, computational science or related engineering fields.
• Experience applying systems engineering processes and methodologies across the engineering lifecycle.
• Ability to develop technical documentation including requirements, specifications, reports and engineering plans.
• Experience of technical analysis, modelling and problem solving within a complex engineering environment.
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Delivering quantum engineering activities and technical work packages in support of project objectives
• Leading small technical teams and coordinating technical outputs
• Producing high‑quality technical documentation, reports, plans and specifications
• Applying systems engineering principles throughout the project lifecycle
• Identifying, assessing and escalating technical risks, issues and dependencies
• Supporting technical decision‑making through analysis, modelling and engineering evidence
