Job summary

TED Recruitment is seeking a Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager for its Birmingham office. The candidate should be nearing APC for RICS qualification, with a couple of years post-graduation experience in a consultancy environment.

Projects include high-value cladding remediation for large residential buildings, plus education, healthcare and commercial work. Strong cost management and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Two years post-graduation experience with a consultancy / PQS
• APC toward becoming RICS qualified
• Recognised UK qualification in Quantity Surveying
• Experience in cost control, contract administration, procurement and tendering with financial reporting
• Ability to prepare cost plans, budgets and tender documentation; procure contractors and suppliers
• Experience with JCT contracts; ability to organise meetings and take minutes
• Interest in a mix of quantity surveying and project management; strong communication skills

Location: Birmingham

Region: UK-England-West Midlands

Salary / Rate: £40000 to £50000 per annum + Pension, bonus etc.

THE ROLE

My client seeks a Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager who is approaching taking the APC to become RICS qualified to join them in their Birmingham office.

Projects are generally of high value and there is a particular need currently for people to work on cladding remediation projects for large residential buildings along with other residential, education, healthcare and some commercial projects.

You will either be a Quantity Surveyor with an interest in project management and with a couple of years or more post graduation experience or you may be a Project Manager who has a good handle on the cost management side of projects and with a couple of years experience.

THE COMPANY

My client is a long established busy firm of multi disciplinary consultants with several offices.

THE CANDIDATE

You will either be a Quantity Surveyor with an interest in Project Management or a Project Manager with some experience of cost management.

• You must have at least two years post graduation experience of working with another firm of consultants / PQS.
• You should be working towards taking the APC towards becoming RICS qualified.
• You will need to have a recognised UK qualification in Quantity Surveying i.e. BSc in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or Construction Project Management.
• You need to be able to do cost control, contract administration, procurement and tendering along with financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
• You must be able to prepare cost plans, budgets and tender documentation plus procure contractors and suppliers.
• You should have used JCT contracts.
• You need to be able to do contract administration, organise meetings, take minutes etc.
• You will ideally be keen to do a mix of quantity surveying and project management.
• You should have excellent communication skills, both written and spoken to deal with people at all levels.
