Job summary

Carey Group is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the Commercial (Quantity Surveying) team in West Cumbria, onsite. You will manage high‑value packages, oversee subcontract procurement, and provide robust financial reporting and risk management.

The role requires NEC3 contract knowledge, strong stakeholder communication, and a degree in Quantity Surveying. A Chartered or RICS‑aligned candidate is desirable. We offer extensive benefits and a supportive, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in high‑value, multi‑disciplinary construction packages.
• Knowledge of NEC3 contracts and procurement processes.

Responsibilities

• Managing stakeholder relationships and ensuring alignment across internal and external parties.
• Providing commercial support to project and site teams including monthly reporting, IVs, budgets and KPIs.
• Maintaining change control, updating registers and ensuring variations follow contract requirements.
• Overseeing subcontract procurement, issuing orders and managing payments/administration.
• Producing and assessing subcontract applications, issuing payment certificates and recording meeting minutes.
• Driving contractual compliance, monitoring risks, financial impacts, variances and early warnings.
• Forecasting potential issues and advising on mitigation strategies.
• Supporting and mentoring assistant quantity surveyors and promoting teamwork.
• Collaborating to integrate commercial activities and drive continuous improvement.
