Job summary

Kier is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the Lune Gorge project team. This site-based role is Tebay, Cumbria, with some remote working available. You will manage costs and support delivery across the project lifecycle, collaborating with commercial and operational teams.

Ideal candidates hold a construction-related degree, a full driving licence and experience in construction/infrastructure roles. Proficiency in Excel and MS Office is expected.

  • Monitor costs, forecast financial performance and provide commercial insight.
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities and help resolve issues.
  • Manage measurements, valuations and cash flow to maintain control.

Job Description

We're looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Lune Gorge project team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a high-profile infrastructure project, helping to deliver commercial success on a major civil engineering scheme. Could this be the next step in your career?

Location: Nationwide – site-based role in Tebay, Cumbria, with some remote working available Hours: Permanent, Full time, 45 hours per week – flexible hours can be discussed Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per year + £5,000 annual car allowance + benefits We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship for this role

What will you be responsible for?

As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a key role in managing costs, maximising value and supporting the successful delivery of the project. Working closely with commercial and operational teams, you'll help ensure strong financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the commercial management of contracts and work packages to achieve project objectives and target margins
  • Preparing and submitting valuations, applications, claims and commercial reports in line with contractual requirements
  • Monitoring costs, forecasting financial performance and providing accurate commercial insight to the project team
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities, helping to resolve issues and protect project outcomes
  • Managing measurements, valuations and cash flow to maintain effective commercial control throughout delivery
