Interaction Recruitment is assisting a client in North Devon to recruit a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator for on-site work in Barnstaple. Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, or similar role.
• Experience in both quantity surveying and estimating is desirable.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in surveying and/or estimating.
• Strong understanding of construction cost control principles and techniques.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Meticulous attention to detail and high accuracy.
• Outstanding communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Experience managing competing priorities and deadlines.
• Full driving licence required.
• Experience with 4PS Construct is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for commercial construction projects, typically from £100,000 to £10 million.
• Collaborate with bid teams during estimating and tendering.
• Analyze project specs, drawings, and tender docs.
• Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders for cost planning.
• Monitor project progress and provide detailed cost reports.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and value-engineering solutions.
• Review and manage contracts with suppliers and subcontractors, including payments.
• Undertake monthly valuations and monitor project payments.
• Conduct site visits to assess progress and verify quantities.
• Monitor expenditure to ensure delivery within budgets.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for commercial construction projects, typically ranging from £100,000 to £10 million.


• Collaborate effectively as part of a bid team during the estimating and tendering process.


• Analyse and interpret project specifications, drawings, and tender documentation.


• Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure precise cost planning.


• Monitor project progress and provide regular, detailed cost reports.


• Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend suitable value-engineering solutions.

Requirements
