Job summary

VolkerStevin, part of VolkerWessels UK, is seeking a talented Quantity Surveyor to support a site-based project in Ambleside. You will report to the Commercial Lead and manage all commercial and contractual matters on the site, coordinating with an assistant surveyor as required.

The role requires NEC contract experience, a relevant degree, and a RICS accreditation. Opportunities exist to lead procurement, monitor cash flow, and deliver reliable cost reporting on a major civils project.

Qualifications

• Adequate experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
• Experience with NEC forms of contract.
• Experience within Major Civils/Infrastructure projects would be advantageous.
• Degree in a Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
• You will hold an accredited course by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Responsibilities

• Manage cost forecasting and value reporting on the site.
• Advise on contract requirements and protect the business's position.
• Lead procurement and subcontracting to maximise profit and timely orders.
• Monitor cash flow and chase main contract payments.
• Ensure subcontracts reflect responsibilities for quality, programme, HSE, and environment.
• Produce monthly valuations and detailed commercial reports.
• Identify and manage scope and risks; contribute to programme awareness.
• Ensure payments align with contract and quality.
