Job summary

Ian Williams Ltd is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our Capital works division, delivering tendering, estimating and cost control on Cheltenham and the South Cotswolds projects. You will measure costs, prepare valuations, and manage budgets while building strong client and supplier relationships to ensure on-time, profitable delivery of schemes worth up to £3 million.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a similar quantity surveying or project surveying role.
• Experience managing a value of works up to £3 million.
• Inquisitive, organised and honest; thrives when collaborating with clients and teams.

Responsibilities

• Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting risks and solutions for mitigating these.
• Prepare budget cost value reconciliations, identifying commercial risks and opportunities to ensure correct contract planning from the beginning.
• Work closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure productivity targets and contract milestones are agreed and issued before contract start, including direct labour incentives.
• Build strong client and supplier relations, to ensure any variations and the progress of contracts are discussed and resolved proactively.
• Take purchase, credit and debtor responsibility using COINS to achieve expected cash flow.
• Complete and analyse weekly reporting from site with adequate cost information (including labour rates and performance exceptional to budget, value, progress, quality, and safety).
• Produce monthly contract valuations.
