Job summary

Ian Williams Ltd is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the Watford-based commercial team. You will tender, estimate and measure on-site for painting, decorating and refurbishment contracts across housing, education and commercial sectors.

You will build relationships with clients and suppliers, manage contract costs, and identify commercial risks and opportunities to support project profitability. A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a similar estimating and commercially focused surveying role.
• Experience of the commercial ownership of projects and contracts from tender and estimation stages through to final accounts.
• Experience of working for a painting or refurbishment contractor would be very advantageous.
• Entrepreneurial spirit with commercial, analytical, and accurate approach.

Responsibilities

• Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting commercial risks and mitigation.
• Prepare cost value reconciliations for contracts and identify risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with the Contracts Manager to set productivity labour targets prior to contract start.
• Develop strong client, supplier and subcontractor relations for viable variations and progress.
