Job summary

RGB Recruitment is seeking a Quantity Surveyor / Assistant Quantity Surveyor in Somerset to support the expanding commercial team on a diverse range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the South West.

The role covers cost control, valuations, subcontractor procurement, cost planning, and collaboration with site teams, offering structured development and long-term progression within a growing contractor.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying or commercial role within civil engineering or construction.
• Degree-qualified (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
• Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.
• Good communication skills with a proactive, professional approach
• Keen to learn, develop, and progress within a growing contractor

Responsibilities

• Assisting with cost control and financial reporting on live projects
• Supporting the preparation of valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
• Assisting with subcontractor procurement, including enquiries, comparisons, and appointments
• Helping to manage subcontractor accounts and variations
• Supporting tender preparation and cost planning when required
• Working collaboratively with site teams to ensure best commercial practice
