Job summary

Heidelberg Materials UK invites applications for a Higher Apprentice in Quantity Surveying at Whitwick. You will work from day one, learning through practical contract management, financial oversight and procurement tasks while studying part-time towards a Level 6 QS qualification.

You will be mentored by experienced professionals, gaining real project exposure and a clear development plan, with a competitive salary and progression opportunities within the business.

Qualifications

• Education: 112+ UCAS points; 5 GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above) including Maths, English & Science.
• Driving Licence: Full UK licence.
• Skills: Self-starter, team player, excellent communicator, flexible and proactive.
• Status: British citizenship or UK settled status.

Responsibilities

• Contract Management: Assist in the negotiation and agreement of terms and conditions for contracts and sub-contracts.
• Financial Oversight: Help establish financial control systems for contract execution, manage revenue, costs, and cash collection, and produce commercial reports and forecasts.
• Procurement & Subcontractor Engagement: Support the procurement process and help define responsibilities and terms for subcontractors and suppliers.
• Payment & Reporting: Monitor customer payments, prepare subcontractor payment certificates, and ensure accurate financial reporting throughout the contract lifecycle.
• Health, Safety & Environment: Learn to monitor and uphold HSE standards across projects.
• Professional Development: Attend structured training sessions and complete your apprenticeship programme.
