Job summary

Matic Building Services Ltd. is seeking a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor with mechanical and electrical expertise to join our on-site team in Wigan and Manchester.

You will manage all M&E QS activities, from inception to completion, including valuations, cost forecasting, subcontractor management and cost reporting. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or related field and has strong experience in M&E projects, budgeting, and contract administration.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of quantity surveying for M&E projects from inception to completion.
• Produce monthly interim valuations and contract forecast reports.
• Manage subcontract accounts: interim applications, sub-contract claims and performance review.
• Coordinate between the commercial and site teams and mentor junior QS staff.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets and financial reports for M&E projects.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and subcontractors to ensure cost-effective execution.
• Monitor progress, assess cost performance and identify potential overruns.
• Conduct value engineering to optimise budgets and schedules.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, standards and contract requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of quantity surveying for M&E projects from inception to completion.
• Produce monthly interim valuations.
• Produce contract forecast reports for internal commercial reporting ensuring information is complete and accurate, including development of contract revenue and cash flow forecast.
• Manage subcontract accounts, including assessment and certification of interim applications, validation of subcontractor claims and review of subcontractor performance.
• Ensure effective interaction between the commercial team and the operational site teams.
• Oversee and mentor junior quantity surveyors, providing technical guidance and professional development.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports for M&E projects.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure cost-effective project execution.
• Monitor project progress, assess cost performance, and identify potential cost overruns.
• Conduct value engineering exercises to optimise project budgets and schedules.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and contractual requirements.
• Review and manage change orders, claims, and variations to ensure project costs are controlled.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of M&E systems and components, as well as the construction process.
• Excellent understanding of cost estimation, budgeting, and contract administration in M&E projects.
• Proficiency in using industry-standard software.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
