Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is seeking an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor to join a growing main contractor delivering high-quality construction projects across the UK. You will manage the financial, commercial and contractual aspects from post-tender handover through to final account completion, working with Project Managers, Design Managers, subcontractors and the wider commercial team.

The role emphasizes cost control, value engineering and commercial compliance, with responsibilities including

Qualifications

• A degree in Quantity Surveying, preferably RICS-accredited, or be working towards MRICS chartership.
• Proven experience with main contractor environments and design & build projects is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of UK contracts (JCT Design & Build) and cost benchmarking.

Responsibilities

• Lead subcontract procurement, including preparation and analysis of tender packages through to contract award and execution.
• Work collaboratively with project teams to ensure tender information is complete and viable.
• Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost efficiencies.
• Manage and monitor project costs against budgets.
• Prepare and regularly update project cashflows and CVRs.
• Prepare, negotiate, and agree interim valuations, variations, and final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
• Undertake site measurements and travel to site visits as required.
• Maintain procurement trackers, change order registers, and commercial reporting systems.
• Attend project and commercial meetings with relevant information.
• Monitor risks and identify opportunities throughout the project.
• Guide and support Assistant/Graduate QS where needed.

Job DescriptionProject Quantity Surveyor The Role We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor to join a growing main contractor delivering a range of high-quality construction projects across the UK.The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial, commercial, and contractual aspects of projects , from post-tender handover through to final account completion.Working closely with Project Managers, Design Managers, subcontractors, consultants, and the wider commercial team, you will play a key role in ensuring effective cost control, contractual compliance, commercial performance, and value for money throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead subcontract procurement, including preparation and analysis of tender packages through to contract award and execution.
• Work collaboratively with project teams and design consultants to ensure tender information is complete, accurate, and commercially viable.
• Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost efficiencies where appropriate.
• Manage and monitor project costs against agreed budgets.
• Prepare and regularly update project cashflows and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
• Prepare, negotiate, and agree interim valuations, variations, and final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
• Undertake site measurements from drawings and through site visits as required.
• Maintain accurate procurement trackers, change order registers, and commercial reporting systems.
• Attend project and commercial meetings, providing relevant financial and contractual information.
• Monitor commercial risks and identify potential opportunities throughout the project.
• Work closely with project teams to ensure contractual obligations and commercial objectives are achieved.
• Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to Assistant Quantity Surveyors and Graduate Quantity Surveyors where required.

Skills & Experience

• A degree in Quantity Surveying , preferably RICS-accredited, or be working towards MRICS chartership.
• A minimum of 3 years' Quantity Surveying experience within a main contractor environment.
• Experience working on Design & Build projects would be advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of UK construction contracts, particularly JCT Design & Build .
• Good understanding of UK building regulations and commercial risk management.
• Familiarity with BCIS and elemental cost benchmarking.
• Strong numerical, analytical, negotiation, and commercial skills.
• Excellent time-management and organisational abilities.
• The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and understand construction methods.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a wider project team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• A valid CSCS card would be advantageous.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
