Job summary

MTR Partnership in Wakefield is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team. This well-established regional main contractor delivers projects across commercial, industrial, education, healthcare and public sectors.

The role is office-based with occasional site visits. The successful candidate will manage the commercial aspects of multiple projects, prepare valuations and final accounts, procure subcontractors, and monitor variations and risk, working closely with Contracts Managers

Qualifications

• Experience as Quantity Surveyor in a main contracting environment.
• Strong commercial awareness with cost management experience.
• Good understanding of JCT contracts.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial aspects of multiple construction projects from procurement through to final account.
• Preparing valuations, cost reports, forecasts and final accounts.
• Procuring and managing subcontractor packages.
• Identifying and managing variations and commercial risk.
• Working closely with Contracts Managers, site teams and clients to maximise project performance.

We're currently working with a well-established regional main contractor to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in Wakefield.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business delivering a diverse range of construction projects across the commercial, industrial, education, healthcare and public sectors. The role is predominantly office-based, with occasional site visits to support project delivery and maintain strong relationships with clients and site teams.

What You’ll Be Doing;

• Managing the commercial aspects of multiple construction projects from procurement through to final account.

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment.
• Strong commercial awareness with experience managing project costs and subcontract accounts.
• Good understanding of JCT contracts.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) would be advantageous.
