Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial aspects of projects from procurement through to final account.
• Oversee valuations, cost control, forecasting, CVRs, cash flow and financial reporting.
• Procurement management and subcontractor packages, including payments and variations.
• Monitor project budgets and commercial performance, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, site teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Ensure contractual compliance and maintain accurate commercial records.

Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Wakefield (with travel to sites around Yorkshire and one day working from home)

An established and growing regional main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team. Working across a diverse portfolio of build and civil engineering projects, including commercial, industrial and retail schemes, you will play a key role in managing the commercial performance of projects from procurement through to final account.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to take ownership of their projects, develop their commercial expertise and work alongside an experienced and supportive team within a growing contractor.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial aspects of projects from procurement through to final account, ensuring strong financial and commercial performance.
• Oversee valuations, cost control, forecasting, CVRs, cash flow, variations and financial reporting across multiple live projects.
• Manage procurement activities and subcontractor packages, including payments, variations and final accounts.
• Monitor project budgets and commercial performance, identifying potential risks, changes and opportunities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, site teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Ensure contractual compliance and maintain accurate commercial records, cost reports and supporting documentation.
• Work closely with project and site teams to support successful project delivery and maximise commercial performance.

About You

• Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment.
• Strong commercial awareness with a good understanding of construction processes and cost management.
• Experience across building, civil engineering, civils or streetworks projects would be advantageous.
• Confident managing multiple projects and working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong communication, negotiation and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proactive and motivated approach, with a willingness to continue developing professionally.
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline is desirable.
• Full UK driving licence.
