Job summary

Lester Lloyd Limited is seeking a Project Quantity Surveyor to oversee the commercial delivery on live construction projects across South Manchester. You will report to the Senior Quantity Surveyor and work closely with the project team to control costs, value work and manage procurement.

The role requires a degree in Quantity Surveying, at least five years' post-graduate experience, strong valuation and variations experience, and excellent client communication.

Qualifications

• A degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' post-graduate experience in a QS role.
• Strong experience in the construction industry with valuations and variations.
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Strong negotiation and client meeting skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial aspects of allocated construction projects.
• Prepare and manage monthly valuations.
• Identify, price and agree variations
• Prepare and issue subcontract orders and manage procurement
• Manage subcontractor payments and applications.
• Monitor project costs, budgets and commercial performance.
• Produce accurate commercial and financial reports.
• Support senior QS and project delivery teams.
• Attend client meetings and maintain relationships.
• Review progress and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Support delivery from start to finish.
• Possibly manage two live projects simultaneously.

Project Quantity Surveyor

Location: Manchester sites across South Manchester

Salary: £40,000 £53,000 + car allowance / company car

The Opportunity

A well-established and highly regarded construction business with an excellent reputation and a strong order book of work is looking to appoint an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor looking to take responsibility for live projects across South Manchester, working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and wider project team. The successful candidate will potentially be responsible for two projects simultaneously, ensuring strong commercial control and effective management of costs throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial aspects of allocated construction projects.
• Preparing and managing monthly valuations.
• Identifying, pricing and agreeing variations
• Preparing and issuing subcontract orders and managing procurement
• Managing and assessing subcontractor payments and applications.
• Monitoring project costs, budgets and commercial performance.
• Producing accurate commercial and financial reports.
• Working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and project delivery teams.
• Attending client meetings and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Reviewing project progress and identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
• Supporting the successful commercial delivery of projects from start to completion.
• Potentially managing the commercial aspects of two live projects at the same time.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction/commercial discipline
• A minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience in a Quantity Surveying role.
• Strong experience within the construction industry.
• Practical experience of valuations, variations, subcontractor payments and placing orders.
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• The confidence to attend and contribute to client meetings.
• The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
• A proactive, professional and commercially focused approach.
