Job summary

Carmichael UK is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for a high-profile highways project in London. The successful candidate will manage commercial and contractual aspects across major infrastructure, ensuring NEC3/4 compliance and optimal commercial performance.

You will prepare subcontract packages, valuations and cost reporting while coordinating with delivery teams and clients. A Tier 1 background and degree in QS are strongly preferred to deliver on complex national highway frameworks.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in highways or major civil projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.
• Experience with Tier 1 contractors or major civil organisations.
• Track record delivering projects for National Highways, Highways England or large authority frameworks.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.

Responsibilities

An immediate start opportunity exists for a competent Quantity on a roads and highways project in London. Previous tier one contractor experience using NEC3/4 contracts is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial and contractual aspects of highways and major infrastructure projects.
• Preparing and reviewing subcontract packages, procurement schedules and contract administration.
• Producing valuations, forecasts, CVRs and cost reports.
• Managing variations, compensation events and change control processes.
• Supporting project delivery teams to maximise commercial performance.
• Negotiating and agreeing final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
• Ensuring compliance with NEC forms of contract.
• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within highways, roads or major civil engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts, including NEC3 and NEC4.
• Experience working for a Tier 1 contractor or major civil engineering organisation.
• Track record delivering projects for National Highways, Highways England or major local authority frameworks.
• Excellent commercial awareness and stakeholder management skills.
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
