Job summary

KierBAM Joint Venture is seeking a qualified Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team for a major MOD redevelopment project at Plymouth. The role requires working in a collaborative environment with strong cost control, reporting, and subcontractor management responsibilities.

The successful candidate will have NEC contract experience, CSCS White PQP/AQP, a driving licence, and BPSS clearance, plus UK residency of five years.

Qualifications

• Qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• Experience with NEC contracts is essential.
• CSCS White PQP/AQP card and a full driving licence are required.
• BPSS security clearance is required for this role.
• Passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and UK residence of five years are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial insight including forecasts of financial and contractual performance to help the team meet targets.
• Prepare and review monthly cost reports with colleagues to identify trends and opportunities.
• Manage subcontractor relationships from enquiry through to payment, ensuring value and quality.
• Implement change control procedures and maintain clear communication with clients.
• Assess and mitigate commercial risks while maximising cash flow across the project.

We're looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our KierBAM Joint Venture team based in Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Location:

Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard - remote working available but with a minimum of 3 days per week based in the office

Hours:

45 hours per week

KierBAM is a Joint Venture partnership between Kier and BAM Nuttall, currently delivering an exciting redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site in Plymouth. We're seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our collaborative team. Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. Please note that candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past five years.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll be working within the commercial team, supporting them in delivering financial and contractual excellence across this prestigious MOD facility. Your day-to-day will include:

• Providing commercial insight, including financial and contractual performance forecasts, to help the team exceed business targets and KPIs
• Preparing and reviewing monthly cost reports, working collaboratively with colleagues to identify trends and opportunities
• Managing subcontractor relationships from enquiry through to payment, ensuring value and quality throughout
• Implementing change control procedures and maintaining clear communication with clients
• Assessing and mitigating commercial risks whilst maximising cash flow across the project

What are we looking for?

This role of Quantity Surveyor is great for you if:

• You're professionally qualified or hold a degree in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline
• You have strong experience with NEC contracts and feel confident in client-facing situations
• You're proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, and ideally have experience with CEMAR or Coins/Causeway systems
• You enjoy working collaboratively within a diverse, skilled team and bring excellent communication skills
• You hold a CSCS White PQP/AQP card and a full driving licence
