Job summary

Abatec Recruitment is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading civil engineering contractor on a major £100m infrastructure and marine project at a strategic UK naval base. Based in Plymouth, you will contribute to high-value, technically complex works within a secure environment.

The role focuses on managing budgets, subcontractor payments, NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4), and cost control, with 45-hour weeks and a salary £40,000–£45,000 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
• Experience of working for a Civil Engineering contractor.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract (NEC3 or NEC4 preferred).
• Ability to work effectively within secure and highly regulated environments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and commercial management tools.
• SC (Security Clearance) or ability to obtain clearance due to nature of the project.

Responsibilities

• Be part of a commercial team, reporting into a Managing Quantity Surveyor.
• Be responsible for managing subcontractor applications and payments and inputting data.
• Manage the commercial and contractual requirements of assigned projects.
• Prepare and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost control strategies.
• Liaise with project teams to ensure accurate valuations and applications for payment.
• Conduct risk and value management and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.

We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to contribute to high-value, technically complex works within a secure environment and play a key role in supporting critical national defence infrastructure.

As Quantity Surveyor you will:

• Be responsible for managing subcontractor applications and payments and inputting data.
• Manage the commercial and contractual requirements of assigned projects.
• Prepare and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost control strategies.

Our client requires a Quantity Surveyor with:
