Job summary

KierBAM Joint Venture in Plymouth (Devonport Royal Dockyard) seeks a Section Engineer (Geotechnical) to support a live MOD redevelopment project. You will oversee setting out works, record-keeping, and technical problem solving within a busy site team.

Applicants should have Level 3+ qualifications (HNC/HND/Degree), geotechnical experience, and IT skills in CAD and BIM. CSCS White PQP/AQP and SMSTS are preferred. BPSS checks apply for security clearance.

Qualifications

• Academic qualification at Level 3 or above (HNC, HND or Degree).
• Experience in geotechnical applications such as drilling, grouting, anchor installation, inspection and testing.
• Familiarity with Quality Management Systems and RAMS.

Responsibilities

• Managing the preparation of as-built drawings and recording work completed.
• Assisting in recording and testing workmanship and materials (drilling, grouting, anchoring).
• Providing engineering support to overcome technical problems and answer queries.
• Setting out works and maintaining dimensional control for accurate construction.
• Preparing sketches for distribution on site and ensuring clear communication.

Job description

We're looking for a Section Engineer (Geotechnical) to join our KierBAM Joint Venture team based in Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Location: Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard

Hours: 45 hours per week

KierBAM is a Joint Venture partnership between Kier and Bam Nuttall, currently delivering an exciting redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site in Plymouth. We're seeking a Section Engineer (Geotechnical) to join our team working in this live MOD facility. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a significant infrastructure project in a unique and challenging environment.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Section Engineer (Geotechnical), you'll be working within the KierBAM Joint Venture team, supporting them in delivering this important redevelopment project. Your day to day will include:

• Managing the preparation of as-built drawings and establishing effective systems to record work completed
• Assisting in the recording and testing of workmanship and materials, including drilling, grouting and anchoring
• Providing engineering support to ensure technical problems are overcome and technical queries are answered
• Taking responsibility for setting out works and providing dimensional control to ensure accurate construction
• Preparing sketches for distribution on site and maintaining clear communication channels for effective understanding

What are we looking for?

This role of Section Engineer (Geotechnical) is great for you if:

• You hold an academic qualification at Level 3 or above (HNC, HND, or Degree)
• You have demonstrable experience in various geotechnical applications such as drilling, grouting, anchor installation, inspection and testing
• You have a good standard of IT skills including CAD and BIM systems
• You are familiar with Quality Management Systems and writing RAMS
• You hold CSCS White PQP/AQP and SMSTS qualifications
