Job summary

Linear Recruitment is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor for groundworks and civil engineering projects in Dundee. You will manage the commercial aspects from award to final account and liaise with clients and subcontractors.

The role requires strong contract knowledge, cost control and the ability to handle multiple projects. A UK driving license and proficiency in Excel are essential; a degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred but not essential with experience.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in groundworks, civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of contracts, commercial management and cost control.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial software.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial aspects of multiple groundwork and civil projects from award to final account.
• Prepare, submit, and agree valuations and payment applications.
• Produce cost forecasts, cash flow reports and cost reconciliations.
• Procure subcontractors and suppliers; prepare enquiries and negotiate terms.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
• Identify and price variations and change orders.
• Monitor project costs and associated commercial risks with mitigations.
• Support project teams with commercial advice and contract administration.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with contracts and company procedures.

Our client are a well-established and growing groundworks and civil engineering contractor delivering high-quality projects across the commercial, industrial and infrastructure sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial aspects of multiple groundwork and civil engineering projects from award through to final account.


• Preparing, submitting, and agreeing valuations and applications for payment.


• Producing cost forecasts, cash flow reports, and monthly cost value reconciliations.


• Procuring subcontractors and suppliers, including preparing enquiries and negotiating terms.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the groundworks, civil engineering, or infrastructure sector.


• A strong understanding of construction contracts, commercial management, and cost control.


• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.


• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and commercial management software.


• A full UK driving license.


• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline (preferred but not essential with relevant experience).
