Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for a major Tier 1 contractor to support a £300m highways project in South West England. You will manage subcontract packages, CVR reporting, and cost plans on site, ensuring value and profitability while adhering to contract terms.

The role requires strong IT skills (Excel, Word, CEMAR and Oracle), good commercial acumen, and professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS (desirable). Eligible to live/work in UK.

Qualifications

• Good appreciation of standard forms of contract.
• Experience managing subcontract packages and cost reporting.
• Proven ability to prepare cost plans, CVRs and change controls.
• CSCS card and professional qualification (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Produce subcontract documentation and negotiate terms, prices and programme.
• Manage subcontract packages including interim payments and changes.
• Issue commercial notices to Client and Subcontractors as required.
• Administer changes and Compensation Event Quotations.
• Prepare monthly applications to Client and maintain cost records.
• Liaise with site and engineering teams; maintain records.
• Produce monthly reports and CVRs; maintain Cost Plan tracking expenditure.
• Interpret cost reports and support estimating/bid teams with contract expertise.
• Attend progress and risk meetings with client and subcontractors.

Job description

A Major Tier 1 contractor are looking to expand their team with a Quantity Surveyor in the Infrastructure division, supporting the successful delivery of their new £300m highways project in South West Engalnd. Scope of works include enabling earthworks, widening to the existing road, new link road and various structures.

What will you be doing:

Participate in creating a safe working environment.

• Produce Subcontract documentation including negotiation of terms and conditions, prices, and programme.
• Management of subcontract works packages including, interim assessments of the amount due and subsequent change management.
• Produce and issue all commercial notices, to both the Client and Subcontractors, as required by the form of contract.
• Manage change in a timely manner in accordance with the form of contract, including the production and submission of Compensation Event Quotations.
• Produce, submit, and agree monthly applications, to the Client, in accordance with the form of contract.
• Liaise with operational and engineering staff to ensure site records are kept to the standard required.
• Produce detailed monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliation's (CVR) as required by the business unit or project.
• Produce and maintain a detailed 'Cost Plan', tracking and forecasting expenditure, including detailed schedules of Subcontractor 'liabilities' and use of Oracle based cost analyses.
• Interpret and critically evaluate expenditure reports produced by internal cost systems.
• Attending weekly progress and risk reduction meetings with the client and subcontractors.
• Apply the principles of 'Doing the right thing' in maximising value and profit.
• Be available to assist estimating and bid teams with contractual expertise.

About you:

Good appreciation of standard forms of contract.

• Strong IT skills including Excel, Word & Contractual and Cost Management Systems (CEMAR, Oracle).
• Strong stakeholder management andcommunication capabilities.
• Solid knowledge of construction processes.
• First class time and outcome management skills.
• Professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS,ideally Incorporated member, working towards full membership (Desirable).
• Relevant degree and/or experience of working in a relevant Commercial environment.
• Exposure on (large single or multiple smaller schemes).
• CSCS appropriate.
