Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking a Quantity Surveyor - Infrastructure to join our Birmingham-based team. You will drive financial performance on complex infrastructure projects, manage cost control, forecasting, and contract administration under standard civil engineering contracts.

You will collaborate with site teams, JV partners, and clients to protect margins, prepare CVRs, and lead monthly cost reporting across projects and business units.

Qualifications

  • Education: HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent construction management qualification).
  • Sector Experience: Proven commercial experience within civil engineering or major infrastructure environment.
  • Contract Knowledge: Practical understanding of NEC / ICE standard forms of contract and Construction Law.
  • Commercial Expertise: Hands-on experience in monthly CVR reporting, earned value analysis, subcontractor procurement, and variation valuation.
  • Core Skills: Excellent numeric, analytical, and negotiation skills, with advanced proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel).

Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), cash flow forecasts, and commercial plans across projects and business units.
  • Utilize Earned Value Management (EVM) and detailed cost analysis to track project profitability and expenditure.
  • Adhere to and refine internal governance, including JV and Alliance commercial processes where applicable.
  • Optimize inter-company trading and cross-entity financial alignment.
  • Administer main contracts-principally NEC and ICE forms-identifying commercial risks and mitigating financial exposure.
  • Prepare, submit, and agree applications for payment, variations, claims, and compensation events with clients and third parties.
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant statutory regulations and Construction Law.
  • Manage full-cycle subcontractor procurement, including package tendering, negotiation, and contract awards under compliant terms.
  • Oversee the subcontract measurement and control cycle, chair regular progress meetings, issue valuations/certificates, and manage accruals.
  • Embed commercial best practices within site operations, advising Project Managers and site teams on cost control.
  • Build strong relationships with client representatives, subcontractors, and suppliers to protect project margins and hit delivery targets.

Quantity Surveyor - Infrastructure

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for driving financial performance, managing risk, and overseeing commercial governance on complex infrastructure projects. Working closely with operational site teams, clients, and Joint Venture/Alliance partners, this role ensures rigorous cost control, accurate forecasting, and effective contract management under standard civil engineering contracts.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Performance & Governance

Candidate Profile
Essential Requirements
