Job summary

Aldwych Consulting Ltd is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for infrastructure projects based in Reading, Oxford, Swindon or Thames Valley with hybrid working. You will deliver commercial excellence across a portfolio of major programmes in utilities, defence, aviation, energy, highways and rail, working with client teams and senior managers to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery.

Qualifications

  • Membership of, or working towards, the RICS or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • A degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Experience working on civil infrastructure or major construction projects.
  • Good working knowledge of UK construction contracts, including NEC, ICC, FIDIC and/or JCT.
  • Strong commercial awareness and excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Previous experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with client teams, building strong relationships with project managers, contractors and key stakeholders.
  • Monitor and control project costs to ensure successful commercial delivery.
  • Assess and manage contractor and supplier applications, costs and payments.
  • Prepare and contribute to financial reporting, presenting commercial performance and project risk updates.
  • Support procurement activities, including tender evaluations and contractor appointments.
  • Administer construction contracts, ensuring contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage contract variations, reviewing quotations, assessing entitlement and negotiating agreement.
  • Identify, analyse and mitigate commercial risks while supporting value engineering initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and support project governance.

Quantity Surveyor - Infrastructure Projects

Location: Reading, Oxford, Swindon or Thames Valley (Hybrid Working)

Are you a Quantity Surveyor looking to take your career to the next level? We're working with a leading multidisciplinary consultancy that delivers some of the UK's most prestigious and complex infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing commercial team working across major programmes in utilities, defence, aviation, energy, highways and rail. You'll work closely with client teams on long-term secondments, typically ranging from six months to several years, giving you the opportunity to develop strong client relationships while gaining exposure to high-profile projects.

The Opportunity

As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for delivering commercial excellence across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects. Working alongside experienced project managers, contractors and stakeholders, you'll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and in line with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

  • Membership of, or be working towards, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • A degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Experience working on civil infrastructure or major construction projects.
  • Good working knowledge of UK construction contracts, including NEC, ICC, FIDIC and/or JCT.
  • Strong commercial awareness and excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Previous experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues.
