Job summary

Vital Energi is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the Commercial team supporting projects across the Scotland Region. You will help manage contracts, prepare payments and monitor costs in collaboration with Contracts/Project Managers.

The role requires a BSc in Quantity Surveying, knowledge of NEC contracts and MRICS or equivalent membership is desirable. A full UK driving licence is essential for site visits.

Qualifications

• Experience as a quantity surveyor on construction projects.
• Good knowledge of NEC contracts and contract administration.
• Full UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Support sites commercially with contractual obligations identification and administration.
• Review client contract docs for compatibility with tender terms.
• Create and monitor Commercial Risk Registers and mitigation plans.
• Prepare and issue enquiries for major plant, equipment and sub-contracts.
• Prepare and submit payments, invoices, and payment certificates.
• Measure and agree variations and final accounts under contract provisions.
• Monitor on-site record keeping and issue notices as required.
• Prepare monthly cost value reconciliations and attend contract reviews.
• Code supplier and sub-contractor invoices for payment.
• Measure and certify sub-contractor valuations and issue notices.

Job description

If so, due to continuing success, we are experiencing rapid and extensive growth in all business sectors, and we are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor with a successful background in the world of Construction.

You will join our Commercial team supporting a variety of projects covering the Scotland Region.

You will support financial management of Contracts, in partnership with the Contracts Managers and / or Project Managers.

What you will be doing:

• Work in partnership with site management, commercially supporting sites as required, to develop a proactive site team. Ensuring that contractual obligations are identified and administered.
• Vet contract documentation on receipt from Client to ensure compatibility with the Companys Tender and subsequent negotiations
• Produce Commercial Risk Register for each contract. Monitor risk and assist in implementation of agreed mitigation measures
• Prepare and issue enquiries for Major Plant & Equipment and Sub-Contract packages. Vet quotations commercially and negotiate price and terms with vendors. Issue resultant Purchase Orders
• Prepare and submit Applications for Payment and/or Invoices, obtain Payment Certificates and progress Client Payments in accordance with contractual provisions
• Measure, submit and agree Variations, Loss & Expense and/or Compensation Events in accordance with contractual provisions to facilitate prompt agreement of Final Accounts
• Monitor on-site record keeping. Prepare and issue Notices in accordance with contractual provisions
• Prepare and submit monthly Cost Value Reconciliations and Cash/Spend Profiles. Attend Contract Review Meetings
• Authorisation and coding of Suppliers and Sub-contractors Invoices and submission to Finance for payment
• Measure, certify and agree Sub-Contractors interim valuations and final accounts. Prepare and issue contractual notices to Sub-Contractors

Who we are looking for:

• A quantity surveyor who has a successful construction portfolio
• Good knowledge of NEC Contracts
• Educated to BSc in Quantity Surveying (or other equivalent commercially related discipline)
• Member of Profession Institution (e.g. MRICS or similar)
• Have knowledge and working experience of Mechanical / Electrical services and/ or utilities
• Full UK manual driving licence
