Job summary

Vital Energi is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a portfolio of projects in the North West and across the UK. You will contribute to financial management of contracts in collaboration with Contracts and Project Managers, ensuring contractual obligations are identified and administered effectively.

The role requires a BSc in Quantity Surveying, strong NEC3/NEC4 experience (especially Option A), and MRICS or equivalent membership.

Qualifications

• BSc in Quantity Surveying (or related discipline).
• Proven experience with NEC3/NEC4 contracts (Options A-E, predominantly A).
• MRICS or equivalent membership is required or highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial support to site teams and manage contractual obligations.
• Vet client contract documents for alignment with tenders and negotiations.
• Prepare and maintain Commercial Risk Registers and mitigations.
• Issue inquiries for major plant, equipment and subcontracts; evaluate quotations and issue purchase orders.
• Prepare and submit payment applications, certificates and progress payments.
• Measure variations, loss and expense claims, and settlement of final accounts.
• Monitor on-site record-keeping and issue contractual notices as needed.
• Prepare CVRs and cash/spend profiles; attend contract review meetings.
• Authorize and code supplier and subcontractor invoices for payment.
• Measure and certify subcontractor valuations and issue notices.

Job description

Would you like to be part of Vital Energi's 5-Year Strategy of Growth? If so, due to our continuing success, we are experiencing rapid and extensive growth across all business sectors and are looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a successful background in construction.

You will join our Commercial team, supporting a variety of projects across the North West.

You will support the financial management of contracts in partnership with the Contracts Managers and/or Project Managers.

What You Will Be Doing

• Work in partnership with site management, providing commercial support as required to develop a proactive site team and ensure contractual obligations are identified and administered.
• Vet contract documentation upon receipt from the client to ensure compatibility with the Company's tender submission and subsequent negotiations.
• Produce a Commercial Risk Register for each contract, monitoring risk and assisting in the implementation of agreed mitigation measures.
• Prepare and issue enquiries for major plant, equipment and subcontract packages. Commercially evaluate quotations, negotiate pricing and terms with vendors, and issue resultant purchase orders.
• Prepare and submit applications for payment and/or invoices, obtain payment certificates and progress client payments in accordance with contractual provisions.
• Measure, submit and agree variations, loss and expense claims, and/or compensation events in accordance with contractual provisions to facilitate the prompt agreement of final accounts.
• Monitor on-site record keeping and prepare and issue notices in accordance with contractual provisions.
• Prepare and submit monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and Cash/Spend Profiles. Attend Contract Review Meetings.
• Authorise and code suppliers' and subcontractors' invoices and submit them to Finance for payment.
• Measure, certify and agree subcontractors' interim valuations and final accounts. Prepare and issue contractual notices to subcontractors.

Requirements

• A Senior Quantity Surveyor with a successful track record in the construction industry.
• Educated to BSc level in Quantity Surveying (or another equivalent commercially related discipline).
• A strong understanding of NEC3 and NEC4 Contracts, including Options A, B, C, D and E, with predominantly Option A experience.
• Membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g. MRICS or equivalent).
• Knowledge and practical experience within the construction and/or mechanical and electrical (M&E) sectors.
• Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
• Full UK driving licence.
