Job summary

Vital Energi is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the Commercial team supporting projects across the North West region. You will manage financials of contracts, under the guidance of Contracts/Project Managers, and help drive profitable delivery.

We require a background in construction, NEC contract knowledge, and a professional qualification (MRICS or similar). A full UK driving licence is essential for site visits and coordination.

Qualifications

• Background in a successful construction portfolio.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts.
• MRICS or similar professional membership.
• Experience with Mechanical/Electrical services and/or utilities.
• Strong commercial awareness and judgment.
• Full UK manual driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Support sites commercially and identify contract obligations.
• Vet client contract docs for NEC compatibility.
• Create contract risk registers and mitigation plans.
• Obtain quotes, negotiate terms with suppliers, issue purchase orders.
• Prepare payment applications and certificates, progress client payments.
• Measure, value and agree variations, loss and expense, final accounts.
• Maintain on-site record keeping and issue notices.
• Prepare monthly cost value reconciliations and attend contract reviews.
• Code and approve supplier and sub-contractor invoices.
• Measure and certify subcontractor valuations and final accounts.

YouwillsupportfinancialmanagementofContracts,inpartnershipwiththeContractsManagersand/orProjectManagers.

Whatyouwillbedoing:

• Workinpartnershipwithsitemanagement,commerciallysupportingsitesasrequired,todevelopaproactivesiteteam.Ensuringthatcontractualobligationsareidentifiedandadministered.
• VetcontractdocumentationonreceiptfromClienttoensurecompatibilitywiththeCompany’sTenderandsubsequentnegotiations
• ProduceCommercialRiskRegisterforeachcontract.Monitorriskandassistinimplementationofagreedmitigationmeasures
• PrepareandissueenquiriesforMajorPlant&EquipmentandSub-Contractpackages.Vetquotationscommerciallyandnegotiatepriceandtermswithvendors.IssueresultantPurchaseOrders
• PrepareandsubmitApplicationsforPaymentand/orInvoices,obtainPaymentCertificatesandprogressClientPaymentsinaccordancewithcontractualprovisions
• Measure,submitandagreeVariations,Loss&Expenseand/orCompensationEventsinaccordancewithcontractualprovisionstofacilitatepromptagreementofFinalAccounts
