Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Slough, Berkshire, UK, is seeking a 2nd Shift Quality Technician to lead advanced dimensional inspection using tactile CMMs and optical systems. The role includes developing inspection programs, interpreting GD&T, and mentoring junior technicians in a fast-paced motorsport environment.

You will collaborate with QA to improve inspection strategies and ensure compliance with QMS and FIA regulations, while driving continuous improvements in accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship or technical diploma with hands-on metrology experience.
• Strong CMM and optical system experience (structured light/laser/vision).
• Proficient in CMM/optical software (Zeiss Calypso or equivalent).
• Advanced GD&T knowledge with aerospace/automotive drawings.
• Able to troubleshoot and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute inspections using CMMs, structured light scanners, lasers.
• Develop and validate CMM/optical inspection programs from CAD.
• Interpret GD&T requirements and advise on measurement feasibility.
• Lead investigations of dimensional nonconformances with data-driven input.
• Train and mentor junior technicians in equipment use and reporting.
• Collaborate with Quality Engineers to improve strategies and workflows.
• Drive continuous improvement in metrology accuracy and efficiency.
• Ensure inspection activities comply with QMS and FIA regulations.
