Job summary

Sheffield Forgemasters Engineering Ltd is seeking a PFMEA Engineer to join the Recapitalisation Team on a 3-year fixed-term contract at our Sheffield site. You will develop and maintain PFMEAs, drive continuous improvement, and support non-conformance investigations while ensuring lessons learned are applied to new processes.

Job description

At Sheffield Forgemasters we have an exciting opportunity for a PFMEA Engineer to join us as part of our Recapitalisation Team on a 3 year fixed term contract.

This role is based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield. Our Recapitalisation Team deliver a programme of work specifically focused on critical asset renewal, including but not limited to: A new Forge building with a new Forge press, offices & water pumping station; New Machine Shops; Investment in flood prevention measures and Facilities upgrades to improve the working environment for colleagues.

As a PFMEA Engineer, you will be part of a specialist team responsible for conducting risk analysis on all components processed within our operational areas using controlled Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA). You will access existing quality control measures to enable effective carry-over into new operational processes where appropriate, while also identifying opportunities for improvement, engineering out risk, and highlighting any new risks introduced by updated methods.

What you’ll be doing

• Develop and maintain PFMEAs for components within multiple operational areas, ensuring they are regularly reviewed and updated.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and process efficiency.
• Support non-conformance investigations and ensure lessons learned are applied across the new machine shop.
• Review and update SPI and WOP documentation to maintain accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate closely with machinists, OEMs, tooling suppliers, inspectors, and quality engineers to support operational excellence.
• Participate in quality meetings and problem-solving clinics.

About You

• Strong operational experience with in-depth knowledge of the PFMEA process.
• Experienced in supporting Continuous Improvement projects
• Proven ability to carry out corrective action investigations and produce clear, effective reports, ensuring learnings are applied to new processes.
• Experience in creating weekly and monthly performance reports.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the business.

The Working Pattern

This is a 3 year fixed term contract working 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday 745am-4pm.
