Job summary

Sheffield Forgemasters invites applications for a Senior Digital Manufacturing Engineer to join our recapitalisation team at the heart of Sheffield. You will lead and maintain digital manufacturing systems (PLM/MES/CAD-CAM) and drive integration across engineering, production planning and shop-floor execution.

The role requires hands-on experience with Siemens Teamcenter or Windchill, Siemens Opcenter, and CAD tools like NX or CATIA, plus LEAN methods.

Qualifications

• Experience managing PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill).
• Experience with MES platforms (e.g., Opcenter, Apriso).
• Strong CAD/CAM knowledge (NX, CATIA, Creo, Mastercam).
• Understanding of IT infrastructure within manufacturing.
• LEAN manufacturing principles (5S, Kaizen, standard work).

Responsibilities

• Lead digital integration across engineering, production planning and shop-floor execution using PLM, MES and OT systems.
• Deliver, manage and optimise OT platforms in line with digital strategy.
• Develop efficient digital workflows and robust digital thread across the product lifecycle.

Job description

At Sheffield Forgemasters we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Digital Manufacturing Engineer to join our recapitalisation team.

This role is based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield. Our Recapitalisation Team deliver a programme of work specifically focused on substantial critical asset renewal, including but not limited to: A new Forge building with a new Forge press, offices & water pumping station; New Machine Shops; Investment in flood prevention measures and Facilities upgrades to improve the working environment for colleagues.

As a Senior Digital Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering, managing and maintaining Sheffield Forgemaster's core Digital Manufacturing systems, including PLM, CAD/CAM and MES. Additionally, supporting the integration and upkeep of auxiliary systems (tool management, simulation, 3D scanning, robotics) and acting as the primary OEM contact.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading digital integration across engineering, production planning and shop-floor execution using PLM, MES and auxiliary OT systems.
• Delivering, managing and optimising Sheffield Forgemaster's core OT platforms in line with the digital strategy and roadmap.
• Developing efficient digital workflows and supporting creation of a robust digital thread across the product lifecycle.
• Applying LEAN methodologies to reduce waste, improving flow and enhance factory performance.
• Collaborating with Engineering, Operations, Quality and IT to drive adoption of digital tools and improve data continuity.
• Providing digital work instructions, visualisations and manufacturing simulations to support operators.
• Assessing and introducing Industry 4.0 technologies including machine connectivity, real-time analytics and process automation.
• Providing user training and first-line support for digital manufacturing systems across the business.

About You

• In-depth knowledge and extensive experience managing PLM systems (e.g. Siemens Teamcenter, Windchill, or equivalent).
• Strong working experience with MES platforms (e.g., Siemens Opcenter, Apriso, or bespoke MES solutions).
• A good understanding of CAD/CAM software (e.g., Siemens NX, CATIA, Creo, Mastercam).
• An understanding of IT infrastructure.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-security, safety-critical environment.
• Demonstrated application of LEAN manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, VSM, Kaizen, standard work).

The Working Pattern

This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday. We offer flexibility in our start and finish times between 06:15 - 09:30 and 14:30 - 18:00.
