HS&E / Quality Manager

Annual Salary: Up to £42,000 DOE

Location: Clacton on Sea (Essex)

Job Type: Full-time - hours of work: 0800 – 1630 Mon – Thu, 0800 – 1530 Fri (39hrs a week)

We are seeking a dedicated HS&E / Quality Manager for our client to ensure that the Quality Management System is established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 standards. This role also involves overseeing the organization's adherence to all company safety standards and procedures.

Day-to-day Responsibilities:
  1. Quality: Maintain and update standards for ISO 9001 – 2015 and ISO 17025, ensuring compliance with external and internal legal directives. Keep all relevant parties informed about standard requirements related to their responsibilities. Manage and coordinate laboratory UKAS accreditation activities. Plan and coordinate internal and external audit programs and visits. Review, update, and distribute the Quality Manual and all associated documents. Conduct training on Quality Management System processes and activities. Report on the performance of the Quality Management Systems to Directors for management review and as a basis for improvement.
  2. Health, Safety, and Environment: Promote a culture of safety in the workplace and perform regular site inspections to check compliance. Review all risk assessments, method statements, COSHH assessments, and work processes to ensure they meet industry safety standards. Stay updated with Health, Safety, and Environmental Regulations and inform Directors of any substantial changes. Ensure safe installation of equipment and oversee external contractors. Conduct in-house training sessions on health and safety awareness. Prepare and file reports for accidents and other safety breaches. Track incident metrics and apply findings to improve safety measures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Previous experience and qualifications in Quality / Safety / Environmental Management.
  • Experience in risk assessment, operations management, and quality control.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong team spirit and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in high-pressure environments.
  • Research and analytic skills.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software packages.
