Job description

Quality Manager - Cuisine Centre - St Albans
Competitive Salary

The purpose of this role is to lead, manage and develop the Quality department. To ensure the site's processes and procedures are maintained allowing for the safe and legal production of products produced to the correct quality standards and in line with customer specifications.

Key Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Technical Manager, responsibilities for the role will include:

  1. Assisting the factory in the preparation and delivery of successful Third-party audits (BRCGS), resolving any issues identified.
  2. Ensuring the Food Safety Quality Management System is fully implemented within the factory.
  3. Monitoring and improving factory standards with regards to GMP and Hygiene.
  4. Continuously working to improve factory standards and finished product quality.
  5. Dealing with day-to-day quality issues, conducting investigations on Out of Spec Process / Procedures, and managing the root causes of issues identified to reduce them in line with technical KPIs.
  6. Collaboratively working with other departments to continually raise site standards.
  7. Championing the Food Safety Culture and a Quality Focus in the factory.
  8. Improving site hygiene through training, cleaning method challenges, post clean inspections, and sign-offs.
  9. Leading the site HACCP team and developing a HACCP system with clearly defined quality controls for all areas and ensuring that process verifications and validations are being conducted for relevant site processes.
  10. Ensuring line QAs and other operations staff are effective within their areas, developing their competencies through training and mentoring.
  11. Working closely with the Production Team to ensure FG are produced to the required site specification.
  12. Reviewing and counter-checking pack labels prior to launch to ensure they are accurate and compliant with legislation requirements.
  13. Stepping up in Technical Manager's absence to lead the Technical & Quality Department.
Person Specification:
  1. A good communicator, able to liaise confidently with management/customers and engage, motivate, and develop team members.
  2. Ability to manage issues and raise concerns in a timely manner.
  3. High standards of personal hygiene.
  4. Basic mathematical skills.
  5. Able to work flexibly in line with business requirements including attending off-site meetings.
  6. Self-motivated.
Desirable:
  1. Food Science / Technology Qualification.
  2. Knowledgeable in Food Manufacturing Hygiene and Safety Standards.
  3. Knowledge of BRCGS Food Safety Standard.
  4. Knowledge and experience of Good Manufacturing Standards.
  5. Knowledge of Food Safety Microbiology.
