Quality Manager

Main purpose of the job
To be the site representative for all Quality aspects, leading and developing the department in terms of quality and business needs; in conjunction with customer-specific requirements and business objectives in a continuous improvement cycle.

Main missions and results

  1. Management, development, and appraisal of the Quality Department on-site and off-site (for those based at customers' sites), developing a team structure to support the needs of the business.
  2. Management and coordination of day-to-day quality concerns at the customer, supplier, and on-site throughout all areas of supply and production.
  3. Communication and reporting (on a dotted line basis) to Corporate Quality Management UK / Europe to develop uniform methods and practices throughout all locations.
  4. Development and implementation of the site Quality Management System within the framework of GDS, Customer Specific Requirements, and IATF 16949.
  5. Responsibility for coordinating all site audits, including IATF, CCC, and others as required.
  6. Management and development of customer relations, with regular communication and meetings. Proactive activity on all perceived quality and systemic issues.
  7. Ensuring all corporate business tools are utilized to monitor and improve performance in parallel with customer reporting systems, where applicable.
  8. Management of quality metrics through corporate reporting systems and other internal systems related to quality.
  9. Regularly reviewing customer quality portals to assess quality scores and challenges.
  10. Promoting and driving problem solving within the site, utilizing proven methodologies to implement, verify, and validate permanent solutions, and driving improvement with new products through lessons learned.
  11. Ensuring all relevant internal audits are performed, results reported, and actions taken to achieve operational excellence.
  12. Reporting quality-related KPIs daily, weekly, and monthly.
  13. Providing PPAP support to the Technical department.
  14. Developing and maintaining a succession plan for all roles within the department.

Budgetary responsibilities

Full budgetary responsibility for the Quality Department, including staffing, equipment, and service contracts.

  • Quality Systems Engineer
  • Measurement team
  • Trackside Representatives
  • Quality Coordinators (shift-based)
  • Quality Gate Operators (shift-based)

Preferred skills and experience

  • Educated to a minimum of O Level / GCSE grade “B”.
  • Proven managerial experience in a Quality role, ideally within an automotive environment, or in a challenging FMCG environment.
  • Influencing and persuasive style.
  • “Can Do” attitude with problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent motivator, self-starting with an enthusiastic approach.
  • Computer literate with Microsoft packages.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels and ability to build good working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Preferred: Member of Chartered Quality Institute.
  • Engineering degree in a technical discipline with relevant experience in a similar role.

What you'll get

A competitive salary plus company holiday pay. Working hours are 37.5 per week on days, with an early finish on Fridays. Training will be provided to the right candidate, with opportunities to join an expanding site. Note that the position requires being on-site five days a week.
