Job summary

Tech Connect Group client seeks a hands‑on Quality Manager to own product quality at the Pontypool site. You will lead a small quality team, perform QE work yourself, and drive permanent corrective actions across non‑conformances.

You may stop release if standards aren’t met and collaborate with production, NPI and R&D. The role requires strong root cause skills, experience with ISO 9001/APQP/PPAP/FMEA, and a background in automotive manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Hands‑on quality engineering background with leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP and FMEA.
• Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and understand manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a small quality team including a Quality Engineer, technicians and inspectors.
• Hands‑on role - you'll be leading the team but also doing QE work yourself.
• Own non‑conformance and root cause processes, driving permanent corrective actions.
• Authority to stop release of finished product if standards aren't met.
• Work closely with production, NPI and R&D to ensure quality is built in before handover to manufacturing.
• Liaise with your counterpart at the group's second site on a fortnightly basis, with occasional travel.
• Report into the Senior Quality Manager overseeing quality across both sites.
• Manage quality KPIs including scrap, rework and out‑of‑sequence product.
• Lead quality audits, FMEA, PPAP and control plan management.
• Support new product introduction and pre‑production trials, including work on premium OEM prototype programmes.

The opportunity:

Our client, a specialist vehicle conversion manufacturer, is looking for a hands‑on Quality Manager to take ownership of product quality at their Pontypool site. This is an urgent requirement.

• Lead and manage a small quality team including a Quality Engineer, technicians and inspectors
• Hands‑on role - you'll be leading the team but also doing QE work yourself

What They're Looking For:

• Strong hands‑on Quality Engineering background, ideally with some team leadership, OR an established Quality Manager
• Solid knowledge of ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP and FMEA
• Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing experience
• Comfortable reading engineering drawings and understanding manufacturing processes
• Strong root cause and problem‑solving skills (8D, 5W2H, PDCA)
• Automotive or vehicle manufacturing background preferred
• Full clean UK driving licence
• Able to work independently in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment
