Job summary

Hudson Shribman, a well-established precision engineering business supplying high-spec components to aerospace and defence, is seeking a Quality Engineer or Senior QA professional to own the Quality function in Hertfordshire and build a small, capable team.

You will drive modern quality processes, lead audits, manage CAPA and root-cause investigations, and work closely with Production and Engineering to raise manufacturing performance while shaping a strong quality culture.

Qualifications

• Experience in aerospace/defence quality environments.
• Proven track record leading quality systems and audits.
• Experience with AS9100 and ISO9001.
• Familiarity with FAIRs, inspection and metrology.
• Strong root-cause analysis and CAPA handling.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop AS9100/ISO9001 QMS.
• Lead audits with customers and third parties.
• Manage non-conformances, CAPA and 8D/5 Why.
• Support FAIRs, inspection and metrology activities.
• Drive continuous improvement and data-driven quality processes.
• Collaborate with Production and Engineering to improve manufacturing performance.
• Build a strong quality culture across the business.

Location: Hertfordshire

Are you an ambitious Quality Engineer, Senior Quality Engineer or QA professional looking to take the next step in your career?

You'll take ownership of the Quality function, lead a small team, and play a key role in modernising quality processes, driving continuous improvement and helping shape the future of the business.

The Role

Working closely with the senior leadership team, you'll take responsibility for the Quality Management System and become the focal point for all quality-related activities across the business.

You’ll lead a small quality team comprising:

• Quality Engineer
• Goods In/Out Inspector
• Inspector

Key responsibilities include:

• Maintaining and developing the AS9100/ISO9001 Quality Management System
• Leading customer, internal and third-party audits
• Managing non-conformances, CAPA and root cause investigations (8D, 5 Why)
• Supporting FAIRs, inspection and metrology activities
• Managing supplier quality and customer quality issues
• Driving continuous improvement and implementing modern, data-driven quality processes
• Working closely with Production and Engineering to improve manufacturing performance
• Building a positive quality culture across the business

About You

We’re far more interested in attitude and potential than job title.

You’ll ideally have experience within:

• Aerospace
• Precision Engineering
• CNC Machining
• Defence
• High-specification manufacturing

You’ll also have experience of:

• AS9100 and/or ISO9001
• FAIRs and inspection processes
• Root cause analysis
• Internal audits
• Engineering drawings and GD&T
• CMM
