Job summary

Hudson Shribman in Hertfordshire is seeking a Quality Manager to lead the Quality function in a precision engineering business supplying to aerospace and defence. You will own the QMS, lead a small team, and drive modernization, continuous improvement, and data‑driven quality processes.

Ideal candidates include Quality Engineers or Senior QA professionals aiming to step up into management, with experience in AS9100/ISO9001, audits, CAPA, non‑conformances, FAIRs, metrology, and GD&T.

Qualifications

• Experience in aerospace/defence quality systems.
• Experience with AS9100 and ISO9001 quality standards.
• Familiarity with FAIRs, inspection and metrology.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop the QMS (AS9100/ISO9001).
• Lead customer, internal and third‑party audits.
• Manage non‑conformances, CAPA and root cause investigations (8D, 5 Why).
• Support FAIRs, inspection and metrology activities.
• Manage supplier and customer quality issues.
• Drive continuous improvement and data‑driven quality processes.
• Collaborate with Production and Engineering to improve manufacturing performance.
• Build a positive quality culture across the business.

The Role

Working closely with the senior leadership team, you’ll take responsibility for the Quality Management System and become the focal point for all quality-related activities across the business.

You’ll lead a small quality team comprising:

• Quality Engineer
• Goods In/Out Inspector
• Inspector

Key responsibilities include:

• Maintaining and developing the AS9100/ISO9001 Quality Management System
• Leading customer, internal and third-party audits
• Managing non-conformances, CAPA and root cause investigations (8D, 5 Why)
• Supporting FAIRs, inspection and metrology activities
• Managing supplier quality and customer quality issues
• Driving continuous improvement and implementing modern, data-driven quality processes
• Working closely with Production and Engineering to improve manufacturing performance
• Building a positive quality culture across the business

About You
