Job summary

Contek Recruitment Solutions is representing our client, an established precision engineering and manufacturing business specialising in high-quality sheet metalwork and components for aerospace, defence, automotive and rail. They are seeking 2 Quality Inspectors to join a small, dedicated team, carrying out inspection activities to ensure products meet drawings, specifications and process requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in quality inspection within engineering/manufacturing.
• Experience producing First Article Inspection Reports.
• Experience using a CMM to support inspection activities.
• Ability to interpret drawings and check components against specs.
• Knowledge of AS9100/Nadcap is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Produce FIRST ARTICLE INSPECTION REPORTS (FAIRs) using a CMM (Aberlink).
• Carry out roaming and final inspections across manufactured products.
• Inspect incoming goods and components from subcontract suppliers.
• Check first-off parts against drawings and quality requirements.
• Liaise with customers and suppliers on quality queries and non-conformances.
• Prepare Certificates of Conformity and delivery documentation.
• Assist with calibration control of internal/external equipment.
• Raise subcontract purchase orders with approved suppliers.
• Collaborate with management and shop floor on quality improvements.
• Support development of a strong quality culture.
• Assist in maintaining AS9100 and Nadcap quality approvals.

Salary: From £33,000 per annum

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 7am-4.45pm – 4-day working week

Holidays: 25 days annual leave, plus statutory bank holidays

Contek Recruitment Solutions is representing our client, an established precision engineering and manufacturing business specialising in high-quality sheet metalwork and components for demanding industries, including aerospace, defence, automotive and rail.

Due to the nature of the products manufactured, maintaining exceptional quality standards is essential. We are looking for 2 Quality Inspectors to join a small, dedicated team, carrying out inspection activities to ensure products meet the required specifications, customer expectations and process requirements.

Reporting to the Chief Inspector, you will play an important role in maintaining quality standards throughout the manufacturing process, from incoming materials and first-off production checks through to final inspection and delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quality Inspector looking to join a specialist engineering environment, with a four-day working week from Monday to Thursday.

The Role – Quality Inspector

• Produce First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), using a CMM (Aberlink) to support dimensional inspection.
• Carry out roaming and final inspections across manufactured products.
• Inspect incoming goods and components received from subcontract suppliers.
• Check first-off production parts to ensure they meet drawing specifications and quality requirements.
• Liaise with customers and suppliers regarding quality queries, non-conformances and corrective actions.
• Prepare Certificates of Conformity and associated delivery documentation.
• Assist with the control and monitoring of internal and external equipment calibrations.
• Raise subcontract purchase orders with approved suppliers where required.
• Work closely with management and shop-floor personnel on quality matters and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Support the development of a strong quality culture throughout the business.
• Assist in maintaining relevant quality approvals, including AS9100 and Nadcap.
• Undertake additional duties as agreed with the Chief Inspector or Quality Manager.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience in a Quality Inspection role within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Experience producing First Article Inspection Reports.
• Experience using a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to support inspection activities.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and check components against dimensional specifications.
• Knowledge of inspection procedures, non-conformance reporting and quality documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
• Good communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
• A proactive attitude towards maintaining quality standards and improving processes.
• Experience within aerospace, defence or precision sheet metal manufacturing would be advantageous, particularly familiarity with AS9100 and Nadcap requirements.
