Job summary

Actio Recruitment is seeking a Quality Inspector for a precision engineering manufacturer supplying aerospace components in Bitton, Bristol. The role is permanent, full-time with night or double day shift options.

You will inspect aerospace components to tight tolerances, interpret drawings, program Aberlink CNC CMMs and use optical measurement equipment. The role requires self-motivation and the ability to work with the machining team.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quality Inspector within precision engineering or aerospace.
• Strong experience with manual and CNC CMM inspection.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience in AS/EN/JISQ 9100 compliant environments is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Inspect aerospace components to tight tolerances using measurement equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and 3D models.
• Program and operate Aberlink CNC CMMs.
• Use optical measurement equipment including Keyence and shaft scanning systems.
• Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspection.
• Complete inspection documentation, PPAP and FAIR reports.
• Raise NCRs and support root cause and corrective actions.
• Conduct MSA studies and contribute to inspection process improvements.
• Manage calibration of measurement equipment.
• Ensure non-conforming product does not reach the customer.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, quality and health and safety.

Location: Bitton, Bristol

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Hours:
Night Shift – 40% Shift Premium Sunday to Thursday: 10:00pm – 6:00am
or
Double Day Shift – 25% Shift Premium

Morning Shift

• Monday to Thursday: 6:00am – 2:00pm
• Friday: 6:00am – 11:00am

Afternoon Shift

• Monday to Thursday: 2:00pm – 10:00pm
• Friday: 11:00am – 4:00pm

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quality Inspector to join a well-established precision engineering manufacturer supplying high-quality aerospace components.

Working within the Production team, you will be responsible for ensuring components meet customer, regulatory and internal quality requirements. The role would suit a self-motivated individual who can manage their own workload while supporting the machining team.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect aerospace components to tight tolerances using appropriate measurement equipment
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and 3D models
• Programme and operate Aberlink CNC CMMs
• Use optical measurement equipment including Keyence and shaft scanning systems

• Complete inspection documentation, Process Control Plans, PPAP and FAIR reports
• Raise NCRs and support root cause, corrective and preventative actions
• Conduct MSA studies and contribute to inspection process improvements
• Manage calibration of measurement equipment
• Ensure non-conforming product does not reach the customer
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, quality and health and safety

About You

• Previous experience as a Quality Inspector within precision engineering or aerospace
• Strong experience with manual and CNC CMM inspection
• Experience inspecting components to tight tolerances
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Experience using conventional measurement equipment
• Aberlink CMM and offline programming experience is desirable
• Experience working within an AS/EN/JISQ 9100 compliant environment
• Knowledge of NCRs, root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
• Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
• Flexible, proactive and willing to learn and develop
