Job summary

Industrial Connected Talent is assisting a Weymouth-based precision engineering business as they appoint a Quality Control Inspector. This hands-on role focuses on inspecting precision machined and fabricated components to meet customer drawings and internal quality specs throughout the manufacturing process.

You will work with engineering and production teams to maintain high quality standards, generating accurate inspection documentation and reports as part of a broader QA activity.

Qualifications

  • Experience inspecting precision machined or fabricated components.
  • Proficient with micrometers, verniers, height gauges and other measuring equipment.
  • Good understanding of dimensional tolerances and engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of Quality Assurance principles.
  • Strong engineering knowledge and attention to detail.
  • Ability to produce accurate inspection reports.
  • Comfortable using PCs and standard software packages.
  • Able to work independently and manage priorities under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out first-off, in-process, goods-in and final inspection
  • Inspect precision machined and fabricated components against engineering drawings
  • Use micrometers, verniers, height gauges, comparators and thread gauges
  • Complete pre- and post-treatment inspection activity
  • Maintain accurate and concise quality and inspection records
  • Support wider quality assurance and inspection activities as required

Introduction for Quality Control Inspector

Industrial Connected Talent is supporting a growing precision engineering business in the search for an experienced Quality Control Inspector.

This is a hands‑on inspection role focused on precision machined and fabricated components. You will be responsible for ensuring products meet customer drawings, specifications and internal quality requirements throughout the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities for Quality Control Inspector

As Quality Control Inspector, you will carry out inspection activity across incoming, in‑process and finished components. You will work closely with engineering and production teams to maintain high quality standards and produce accurate inspection documentation.

  • Carry out first‑off, in‑process, goods‑in and final inspection
  • Inspect precision machined and fabricated components against engineering drawings
  • Use micrometers, verniers, height gauges, comparators and thread gauges
  • Complete pre‑ and post‑treatment inspection activity
  • Maintain accurate and concise quality and inspection records
  • Support wider quality assurance and inspection activities as required
Requirements for Quality Control Inspector

The ideal candidate will have previous quality inspection experience within precision engineering, machining, fabrication or a similar manufacturing environment. You should be confident working from engineering drawings and using manual inspection equipment to verify dimensional accuracy.

  • Knowledge of AS9102 and First Article Inspection requirements
  • Experience programming and operating CMMs using PC‑DMIS
  • Experience with Keyence measuring systems
  • Faro Arm and PowerInspect experience
  • Calibration of measuring equipment
  • Background within precision machining or welding
