Job summary

WR Engineering, based in Bristol, is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join its precision manufacturing team. You will inspect precision‑machined components to ensure conformance with drawings and quality standards throughout the production process.

The role involves first-off, in-process and final inspections, documenting results and supporting quality documentation. You will work closely with CNC machinists to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quality Inspector in precision engineering or manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience inspecting tight-tolerance machined components.
• Proficiency with manual inspection equipment.
• Attention to detail and methodical inspection approach.

Responsibilities

• Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspection of precision-engineered components.
• Inspect components against drawings, specs and customer requirements.
• Use micrometers, verniers, gauges and height gauges; apply advanced inspection equipment as needed.
• Identify and report non-conforming parts.
• Complete inspection reports and maintain quality records.
• Support FAIR and other quality documentation.
• Collaborate with CNC machinists to resolve quality issues.
• Ensure work meets required quality standards and tolerances.
• Support continuous improvement across manufacturing and inspection processes.

Role: Quality Inspector

Location: Bristol

Salary: Up to £43,000 depending on experience

My client is a well-established precision engineering business based in Bristol, supplying high-quality components into demanding industries where accuracy and quality are critical.

They are looking for an experienced Quality Inspector to join their team, working within a busy manufacturing environment and ensuring components meet the required drawings, specifications and quality standards.

The role will involve inspecting precision-machined components throughout the manufacturing process, carrying out final inspection and completing the necessary quality documentation.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspection of precision-engineered components
• Inspecting components against engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements
• Using a range of conventional inspection equipment including micrometers, verniers, gauges and height gauges
• Using more advanced inspection equipment where required
• Identifying and reporting non-conforming parts
• Completing inspection reports and maintaining accurate quality records
• Supporting FAIR and other quality documentation
• Working closely with CNC machinists and the wider production team to resolve quality issues
• Ensuring all work is completed to the required quality standards and tolerances
• Supporting continuous improvement across the manufacturing and inspection processes

Skills and experience

• Previous experience working as a Quality Inspector within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment
• Good understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T
• Experience inspecting tight-tolerance machined components
• Competent using a range of manual inspection equipment
• Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection
• Ability to identify issues and work with production teams to resolve them
• Good understanding of quality procedures and documentation
• Experience within aerospace, defence or another high-precision manufacturing environment would be advantageous
