Job summary

BHC in Carnwath seeks an experienced Quality, Health and Safety Manager to lead and continually improve the Integrated Management System (IMS), with a strong focus on ISO compliance and audits. You will collaborate with the Health and Safety team to maintain high standards across the business.

The role involves driving quality assurance, coordinating audits, and promoting continuous improvement across all departments, in a hands-on, site-based setting.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a QHSE/IMS role within a similar industry.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001; ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 desirable.
• Experience managing internal, external, customer and ISO audits.

Due to continuous expansion, we are seeking an experienced and proactive quality, health and safety manager to lead and continually continually improve our integrated Management System (IMS), with a particular focus on quality assurance, ISO compliance, certification, accreditation and customer audits and continual improvement, while providing leadership, oversight and support across all areas of Health and Safety. This is a hands-on role suited to an individual with a strong Quality and ISO background who is confident managing audits and compliance, identifying opportunities for improvement and working collaboratively across the business to maintain high standards. The successful candidate will work closely with the wider Health and Safety team to ensure effective communication, coordination and continual improvement across the business.

Key Duties Include:

• Lead and continually improve the Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.
• Manage the Quality Management System, with a strong focus on quality assurance, compliance and continual improvement.
• Plan, coordinate and manage internal, external, customer and ISO audits, including preparation, reporting and close-out of actions.
• Act as a key point of contact for ISO certification, accreditation and customer audits ensuring actions are effectively managed and completed.
• Maintain and develop policies, procedures, processes and IMS documentation, ensuring they remain current, effective and compliant.
• Manage non-conformances, corrective actions and root-cause investigations, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
• Monitor and report Quality and Health and Safety Performance, including KPIs, trends, compliance and improvement actions.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve processes, reduce risk and enhance customer satisfaction.
• Conduct quality inspections, compliance checks and process audits, identifying areas for improvement.
• Provide support and guidance on health and safety, including risk assessments, safe systems of work and incident investigations.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with legal, regulatory, customer and industry requirements, maintaining appropriate registers and records.
• Support supplier and subcontractor quality and compliance, including audits and performance reviews.
• Deliver IMS, Quality and Health and Safety training and awareness, and promote a positive culture of quality, compliance, health and safety and continual improvement.
• Prepare management reports and Management Review information, providing recommendations and tracking improvement actions.

Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience in a Quality, QHSE, HSEQ or IMS role, ideally within a similar industry.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience of Integrated Management Systems, particularly ISO 9001, with knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 desirable.
• Proven experience in internal, external, customer and ISO audits, including certification and surveillance audits.
• Strong understanding of quality assurance, compliance, continuous improvement, non-conformances and root-cause analysis.
• Good knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Confident communicator with the ability to challenge, influence and build effective relationships at all levels.
• Proactive, practical and solutions-focused, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office and quality/compliance management systems.
• NEBOSH National General Certificate or NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction.
• Professional membership of IOSH.
• Professional membership of CQI desirable.
• Relevant Quality, Auditing or relevant Health and Safety qualification / professional membership desirable.
• Experience managing an Integrated Management System covering Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental requirements.
