Job summary

Artificial is seeking a Quality Engineer to own test automation across its product platform. This hands-on role manages a large automated suite (about 680 Playwright tests plus backend coverage) and will establish structure, standards and meaningful metrics for ongoing quality improvements.

You will extend automation into Transform/customer-configuration testing over time, an area currently manual, and collaborate with QA Lead and Eng to scale Buildkite CI, define automation boundaries, mentor

Qualifications

• Experience owning test automation frameworks at scale.
• Deep experience with Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
• Comfortable reading application code, even if not writing production features.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving flaky or unreliable automated tests.
• Experience establishing test coverage visibility/reporting from scratch.
• A methodical, standards-driven approach to frameworks and patterns.

Responsibilities

• Reorganisation and consolidation: Bring coverage and integrity to the existing 680-test Playwright suite and backend coverage, removing duplication and flaky tests.
• Meaningful metrics: Build trustworthy metrics mapping coverage to product routes and features, plus pass/fail trends and flaky-test tracking.
• Ongoing addition and maintenance: Own the suite as a living asset, adding new coverage as features ship.
• CI pipeline scaling: Propose a scaling plan for Buildkite with formal ownership and collaboration with QA Lead and Eng.
• Clarifying automation boundaries: Define relationships between platform tests and golden tests, align with performance work.
• Mentorship: Support QA Engineers with automation, sharing knowledge and building confidence.
• Reporting integration: Integrate test results into the test management system with structured bug reports linked to Linear.
• Cross-team collaboration: Work with Eng to establish handover and ongoing collaboration to avoid duplication.
• Building Transform/config automation from scratch: Extend coverage into client-specific Transform/config automation when Platform is solid.
