Senior Quality Engineer - Automotive

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + benefits

Location: West Midlands (commutable from Wolverhampton, Walsall, Wednesbury, Dudley, West Bromwich, Aldridge)

This role offers the opportunity to work for a business that designs and manufactures components and assemblies for various automotive OEM customers, overseeing projects from concept to series production.

Duties:
  1. Coordinate and investigate Customer/Supplier complaints to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  2. Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions to eliminate complaints.
  3. Manage all line quality issues, including containment, corrective actions, risk assessments, and problem resolution.
  4. Conduct ongoing manufacturing process monitoring through audits, statistical analysis, and other techniques to support continuous improvement.
  5. Guide shop floor staff on Quality Assurance and cost-saving techniques.
Experience:
  • Significant knowledge of production quality control and new product introduction within automotive tier 1 or OEM manufacturing.
  • Apprentice trained, HNC, or Degree in engineering or a technical discipline.
  • Ability to liaise with OEM customers and suppliers effectively.
  • Structured problem-solving skills: 8D, 5Y, A3, PPS.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Familiarity with volume manufacturing processes.
  • Internal auditor experience (IATF 16949 / ISO 9001) desirable.
  • Proven use of quality tools such as PPAP, Control Plans, MSA, and PFMEA.
