Job summary

The Langley in Slough is seeking a Quality Engineer to join on a permanent basis. The role focuses on improving the quality of operational processes and outputs with a passion for Lean Manufacturing.

The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent experience, at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment, and a right first time mindset. You will drive standardisation, support 8D activities, and contribute to NPI supplier quality development.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience in manufacturing.
• Minimum 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
• Self-motivated with ability to work under pressure.
• Strong Lean Manufacturing understanding.
• Right first time approach.

Responsibilities

• Drive standardisation of processes and eliminate waste.
• Support 8D activities on quality issues.
• Work on NPI products and supplier quality development.
• Develop and maintain QA throughout product development for NPI.
• Manage control plans and QA for outsourced manufacturing processes.
• Collate material compliance data and report as needed.
• Resolve customer issues promptly.
• Lead problem solving using RCA tools (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa, FMEA).
• Handle internal and external audits.
• Monitor supplier performance and define process parameters.
• Improve on-time delivery and reduce scrap.
• Maintain records of products and approved suppliers.
• Identify and participate in CI improvement projects.

Job Description

My client is looking for a Quality Engineer to join their business on a permanent basis in the Slough area. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding and passion for Lean Manufacturing and will be mainly responsible for improving the quality of the company's operational processes and output.

Attributes of the Quality Engineer

Role Responsibilities

• Drive standardisation on processes along with waste elimination and continuous improvement
• Support 8D activities on parts connected to internal or supplier quality concerns
• Work on NPI products and supplier quality development, implementing new processes
• Develop and maintain quality assurance throughout product development cycle for NPI
• Responsible for control plans and QA associated with manufacturing processes which are outsourced
• Collate material compliance data, report writing where necessary
• Resolve customer issues in a timely manner
• Champion problem solving with use of RCA tools such as 8D, 5WHY, ISHIKAWA, FMEA's
• Handle internal & external audits
• Monitor supplier performance, define process parameters to ensure process capability
• Monitor output, quality & scrap rates. Improve OTD performance
• Maintain records of products and approved suppliers
• Identify, lead and participate in improvement projects - member of the CI team
