Job summary

Napier Turbocharger, a Wabtec Company, seeks a Quality Engineer to join our Procurement & Supply Chain function in Lincoln. You will investigate supplier non-conformances, drive improvements, and ensure compliance with Napier’s quality systems across our supplier base.

Key activities include leading 8D and root-cause analysis, supplier audits, performance tracking, and cross-functional collaboration with Engineering and Operations. Legal right to work in the UK required.

Qualifications

• Experience in Quality Engineering or related manufacturing roles.
• Experience in regulated industries (automotive, aerospace, medical devices) is advantageous.
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA (Process & Design), MSA, SPC.
• Experience with 8D and root-cause analysis tools.
• Lean & Six Sigma methodologies.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Understanding of CNC, moulding, castings, welding, coatings and related processes.

Responsibilities

• Investigate supplier non-conformances and lead root cause analysis.
• Audit suppliers to ensure Quality Management System compliance and drive improvements.
• Measure supplier performance using scorecards and KPIs.
• Lead supplier investigations and manage corrective actions (5-Why, 8D, DMAIC).
• Support suppliers with technical and process improvements.
• Conduct supplier risk assessments and participate in new supplier evaluations.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Operations, Engineering and Commercial teams.

Role: Quality Engineer

Location: LN5 7FD, Lincoln

Contract Type: Permanent, Full‑Time

How will you make a difference?

We are seeking a skilled Quality Engineer to join our Procurement & Supply Chain function. In this key role, you will investigate and resolve supplier non‑conformance issues, ensure suppliers meet our stringent quality system requirements, and drive continual improvement across our approved supplier base.

• Investigating supplier non‑conformances and leading root cause analysis.
• Ensuring supplier compliance with Napier’s Quality Management System through audits and improvement action plans.
• Measuring and maintaining supplier performance in line with the Napier Vendor Assessment system.
• Leading supplier investigations and managing corrective action processes (5‑Why, Fishbone, DMAIC, 8D).
• Supporting suppliers with technical and process improvements.
• Conducting supplier risk assessments and participating in new supplier evaluations and approvals.
• Managing supplier scorecards, KPIs, and quality performance dashboards.
• Collaborating cross‑functionally with Procurement, Operations, Engineering, and Commercial teams.

What do we want to know about you?

• Experience within Quality Engineering, Manufacturing, Production Engineering, Supplier Development or Supplier Management
• Experience in a regulated industry (automotive, aerospace, medical devices, etc.) is advantageous.
• APQP, PPAP, FMEA (Process & Design), MSA, SPC
• 8D, root cause analysis tools
• Lean & Six Sigma methodologies
• Managing supplier deviation and non‑conformance processes
• Engineering drawing interpretation
• Understanding manufacturing processes: CNC machining, moulding, castings, welding, coatings, investment casting
