Job Description

Ultra Precision Control Systems is seeking a Quality Engineer to join the PCS Quality Assurance team. This team ensures compliance with our Quality Policy, which mandates full adherence to all applicable regulatory and customer specifications, and maintains an effective Quality Management System. The team works closely with Operations and Engineering to ensure products and processes meet standards, and monitors quality non-conformances to improve standards, productivity, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and execute audits and assessments in accordance with the QMS, including documentation.
  2. Support investigations into Quality issues, including root cause analysis and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence.
  3. Manage Corrective and Preventative actions to ensure effectiveness.
  4. Maintain Quality measures and targets for QA compliance.
  5. Support external audits, assessments, and visits by customers and authorities.
  6. Perform regular shop floor checks, report issues, and resolve them effectively.
  7. Coordinate and facilitate responses to quality issues.
  8. Assist in generating Quality Plans and proposals.
  9. Support the creation of First Article Reports and related customer activities for product verification.
  10. Support customer or supplier Source Inspections and Product Review activities.
  11. Facilitate concession applications and engineering change requests.
  12. Participate in Engineering Design Project reviews for compliance.
  13. Participate in Contract Reviews and New Business Launches.
  14. Support Operators' Approval Processes, including issuing Stamps and Approval Scopes.
  15. Ensure departmental objectives align with individual goals.
  16. Follow company policies, procedures, and processes.
  17. Support a culture of continuous improvement through process mapping, lean initiatives, etc.
  18. Assist in maintaining company approvals (EASA/CAA, FAR, ISO, AS, etc.) for airworthiness.
  19. Perform additional activities as needed to contribute to company goals.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in Quality and Business Improvement.
  • Experience working within a Quality Management System.
  • Experience with internal and external audits.
  • Understanding of manufacturing environments and supply chains.
  • Experience liaising with customers.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to build relationships and gain trust.
  • Effective planning and timely delivery.
  • Positive, proactive attitude.
  • Initiative and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Desirable:

  • Experience in Aerospace organizations.
  • Knowledge of aerospace standards (e.g., AS9100, EASA Part 21, Part 145).
  • Understanding of aerospace topics like FOD, counterfeit avoidance.
  • Experience with First Article / Parts Approval reporting (e.g., AS9102, PPAP).
  • Knowledge of Process Measurement techniques (SPC, KPIs).
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Software.
  • Certified Quality Auditor training.
  • Engineering qualifications or education.
  • At least A-level education or equivalent; degree preferred.
