Location | Headquarters – Banbridge, Co Down

Hours | 40.5 hours per week. 7:30 am to 5.00pm Mon to Thurs & 07:30 to 3.00pm Friday

Salary | Competitive depending on experience

Responsible to | (Manufacturing & Assembly) Quality Control Manager

The opportunity has arisen to join an industry leader in UK’s Building Services sector. Alternative Heat design, develop and deliver a wide range of offsite-prefabricated, innovative, and sustainable building service solutions throughout the UK and Europe.

We specialise in the design, supply, and installation of a wide range of prefabricated energy solutions, typically built in NI and shipped throughout the UK and Europe. We also offer turnkey design, build, and operate solutions for commercial energy centres and large-scale district heating solutions and have experience with successfully procuring and delivering many similar packages to a wide range of public bodies throughout UK and Europe.

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail oriented Quality Engineer to join our Quality Control team. The successful candidate will play a central and specialised role. They will ensure that all measurement and testing equipment is accurate and reliable through a rigorous calibration programme and that any nonconformities (or deviations) are identified, documented and resolved efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Calibration management

  • Maintain and manage the calibration schedule to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Keep detailed and up to date records of calibration activities for audit and traceability purposes
  • Nonconformity reporting and corrective actions
  • Manage internal and external nonconformities, including root cause analysis, corrective action identification and reporting
  • Track, log and resolve externally provided processes, products and services and client issues
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address systemic issues and prevent recurrence

Continual improvement

  • Analyse data to identify trends and implement process improvements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality standards into all relevant processes.

Documentation and Training

  • Prepare and maintain detailed reports on calibration activities and nonconformity investigations
  • Ensure all related records are complete and stored correctly
  • Conduct relevant training and development, as required
  • Promote AH’s quality culture/programme

Quality metrics and reporting

  • Prepare and present reports on quality metrics, defect rates and corrective action effectiveness to management

Compliance and standards

  • Ensure compliance with the Alternative Heat – Integrated Management System (AH-IMS), internal quality standards, regulatory requirements and client-specific requirements
  • Stay informed about industry regulations and standards, ensuring that processes comply with relevant requirements

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

The Person

  • Proven experience in quality engineering, particularly in calibration and nonconformity reporting
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills for root cause analysis and problem resolution
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g. ISO 9001, IATF 16949 etc) and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. Six Sigma, Lean etc)
  • Familiarity with other management systems (e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 14001 etc)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Quality Assurance, Engineering) or equivalent experience
  • Experience in calibration management and nonconformity reporting
  • Experience with quality management systems and tools.
  • Training in ISO standards (e.g. ISO 9001 etc)
  • Certification as an ISO Lead Auditor (ISO 9001) is advantageous
