Job summary

The Role:

The County Highways Laboratory is part of our Engineering Services team within the Universal Services Directorate of Hampshire County Council. We are a dynamic and forward-thinking authority, currently delivering a wide range of exciting projects, such as M27 J10 improvements and Botley Bypass . Our highways material laboratory provides high quality testing services for our projects, as well as for other public authorities and private sector clients.

Based in Micheldever, the County Highways Laboratory is equipped to perform over 50 specialised laboratory and site tests on construction materials including bituminous, pavement, aggregates, soil and concrete. This is to ensure that materials used on our highway network are compliant and safe. We are also UKAS accredited, guaranteeing the highest level of quality and reliability in our testing services.

What you’ll do:

As a Quality Control Technician, you’ll play a key role in supporting our dedicated laboratory team in maintaining compliance with BS EN ISO/IEC 17025, the internationally recognised standard for testing laboratory quality systems. Through a keen eye for detail and an organised approach to quality management, you will ensure we maintain our high standard of quality management, maintaining our long-established reputation and UK Accreditation Service (UKAS) accreditation.

It is not essential that the successful candidate has experience of working in a materials laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, enjoy working collaboratively as part of a friendly, enthusiastic and diverse team, and take pride in the quality and impact of their work.
